The World is Your Canvas

Art in the Wild invites students to transform ordinary spaces into surprising works of art.      Students will experiment with color, texture, scale, light, and storytelling while working both independently and collaboratively. This class blends art, design, architecture, and imagination into one giant creative playground where students learn that art doesn’t just hang on walls—it can live anywhere.

A Writing Workshop

Great writing doesn't happen all at once—it grows through ideas, practice, and a little bit of courage. In this yearlong writing workshop, students will discover that every writer has something worth saying while building the skills to communicate clearly and creatively.

Throughout the year, students will plan, draft, revise, edit, and publish their own writing as they explore narrative, informative, and opinion writing. Along the way, they'll learn how to organize their ideas, write engaging leads and satisfying endings, add vivid details, support their thinking with evidence, and revise with purpose.

Through creative writing activities, mentor texts, collaborative games, and supportive feedback, students will build a strong foundation in writing while developing confidence, creativity, and pride in their work. Whether they're crafting a fictional adventure, explaining how something works, or convincing readers to see their point of view, they'll strengthen their writing skills while discovering the joy of sharing their ideas with others.

Beyond the Famous Names

Step into the stories of remarkable scientists whose names may be unfamiliar—but whose ideas changed how we understand the world. In this hands-on class, students will investigate real scientific questions through experiments, field observations, engineering challenges, mapping, modeling, and data collection. They might test invisible forces, map a landscape they cannot see, observe patterns in living things, design with airflow, or create error-proof instructions for a machine. Along the way, students will meet the curious and unconventional thinkers behind these discoveries. Rather than simply reading about science, students will work as scientists: asking questions, testing ideas, analyzing evidence, revising their thinking, and sharing what they discover.

Every Voice has Power

Public speaking is one of the most valuable life skills a student can develop—and one that becomes easier with practice. In this engaging, hands-on class, students will build confidence while learning to organize ideas, communicate clearly, and speak with poise in front of others.

Throughout the year, students will research, write, revise, and deliver a variety of speeches, including personal narratives, informative presentations, demonstrations, and persuasive speeches. Along the way, we'll explore memorable speeches, discover techniques for engaging an audience, and strengthen writing skills by crafting messages that connect with real listeners.

Whether students already love the spotlight or would rather avoid it, this class helps every speaker find their voice through interactive activities, supportive peer feedback, and plenty of opportunities to practice. Students will develop communication skills that will benefit them in school and beyond.

The Science of Smart Decisions

Game Theory Lab is a hands-on strategy class where students learn how games shape the way people think, compete, cooperate, negotiate, and make decisions. Through fast-paced challenges, classic strategy games, auctions, logic puzzles, social experiments, and game design projects, students explore the hidden mathematics and psychology behind winning strategies.

In the second half of the year, students become game designers themselves, inventing and testing original games through prototyping, collaboration, and playtesting. This class blends logic, creativity, critical thinking, and fun into an interactive lab where students learn by playing, experimenting, and building.
