It’s hard to believe the holiday season is almost here! Because November and December are both shortened months, we’ve combined this update to include all important dates and information through the December break.

Hobbies on the Fence

Our newest Art in the Wild installation is up on the K/1 playground fence! HSP artists surveyed 133 kindergarten and first-grade students about their favorite activities, then turned the results into five colorful cup murals. Student curators Jovelio and Zoe created signs explaining the project and results. Visit our project webpage to see the artwork and how it all came together!

 

Our Sign Project: A Message from artist Ana Teresa Fernandez

We sent photos of our students’ sign project to artist Ana Teresa Fernandez, whose DREAM sign at Highways 101 and 280 inspired our work. Here’s what she wrote back:

 

Oh my goodness! What an amazing and surprising gift to receive!!! The work is stellar!!!! And I love that you got in trouble with the cleaning staff. It is always better to ask for forgiveness than permission! Never say sorry for glitter!!!  I am, again, really touched. These stories really do make a difference in my life. And I love hearing about the expansive effect of a singular work. The students’ work is so joyous. It is wonderful to witness.

• Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day (No School)

• Monday, November 23 – Friday, November 27: Thanksgiving Week (No School)

• Monday, December 21 – Friday, January 1: Winter Break
   

HSP classes will resume on Thursday, January 7, and Friday, January 8.
